If you're thinking my day today was all about playing hockey, shooting each other down with nerf guns, and singing rediculously loud to silly songs, you're wrong! It was ever more! Even though my title kind of leads you to assume that... But anyway. My day was very fun. Here's a detailed description as to how much ;)
It started out with me waking up a half-an-hour before I had to leave for hockey. Now, don't get the wrong idea; I don't play hockey. It was a church thing. All in good fun, you know? Nobody really cares if you're terrible at it. Also, I'm not irresponsable. Usually a leave myself a good hour and a half to get ready, eat breakfast, take a shower, etc., etc. Anyway, my mom, brothers and I hopped into the car and drove on down to the church.
By the way, I go to Church of the Atonement. Couldn't ask for a better place to learn about the Lord and have fun doing it :)
So Luke and David played hockey. I kind of sat back and watched. Caitlin (the awesome intern) and I went to get slurpees in the middle of it. We got sort of lost, which is funny, since I've gone to my church every Sunday since my birth. You'd expect me to know the area. We found it eventually. Caitlin is kind of addicted to slurpees, by the way. They don't have 7-Elevens down in South Carolina.
I played one game of hockey. Uno. And guess what? My team won! Now that's new. I resisted playing because I thought I wasn't gonna do much for my team. But I must say, I didn't do too bad ;)
Somewhere in the middle of hockey-playing, Leah and I noticed it was raining rediculously hard. Of course, we did the only sensible thing and ran around in the pouring rain and got completely drenched. My hair was absolutely ruined for the rest of the day. And Albert said it looked nice! I can't beleive myself. But hey, it was pretty much worth it.
Soon, hockey was over. Leah, Caitlin, Lily, Gwen, Gwen's brother Reed and I all decided to go out to lunch afterwards. Hm. How 'bout we go to Five Guys? There's one about nine miles from here. Lets go for it.
Bad idea.
Little did we know that those nine miles led straight into Washington D.C. We saw the White House without even meaning to! Darn pretty place. Caitlin was fantasizing about seeing Barack Obama walking down the street. She declared she would go up and hug him; of course, Leah pointed out she'd be tackled by his security guards before she got the chance. But hey, I did say it was fantasizing.
Anyway, the drive ended up being longer than the lunch. We passed an FBI bomb truck while in D.C. That was pretty epic too.
After driving and walking for who knows how long, we finally found the Five Guys. We hopped in there, ate, went pee, and hopped out again. Seriously. We were like, that was so not worth it. Then again, we did see the White House ;)
Then we all decided to stop by Gwen's and maybe watch some movies. It should have taken us around fifteen minutes, but it took us at least twice as long. (11:11!) On the way there, we played a bazillion songs, which included some old disney songs (Part of Your World, Hakuna Matata, A Whole New World, etc.) and some Camp Rock and some High School Musical, and some random. It was a good sing-along time.
We finally got to Gwen's. Surprisingly, we got there fifteen minutes before Gwen herself, so we had to hang around a bit for her to get there and let us in. By the way, Gwen lives in this awesome apartment with an amazing pool in the middle of all the buildings. She lives on the fourth floor in this really snazzy, homey place. Her couches are rather amazing.
Anyway, to pass the time, we walked over to a small playground that was nearby. "I call a swing!" both Caitlin and I said. There were two swings, so no problem, right?
Wrong.
An enormous puddle of rain was right beneath our two swings. But nothing was gonna stop us from getting onto those swings. At least, so we thought.
Caitlin attempted it first. She swung one leg over the swing so she was sitting on it like a horse. But then, she couldn't get the other leg over too. So she sat there, rather uncomfortably, for quite some time before she managed to get herself out of that position. It was... the funniest... thing... I have ever witnessed. Really. Leah and I were laughing so hard, we couldn't breathe. Of course, we felt awful for Caitlin who was stuck in that terrible situation, but we were laughing too hard to assist her in any way. (Bugs, if you're reading this, know that I love you to death!!!! REALLY!!!!)
Finally, Caitlin managed to get herself out. She walked around funny for a bit, but I beleive she is now back to full health ;)
Gwen and Reed came and we finally got into her apartment. There, we decided to watch... Back to the Future! Such a funny movie. I recomend it, if you aren't easily offended by language... heh ;) Anyway, we watched the first one, though Caitlin had to leave towards the end of it :(
Afterwards, we decided to have a nerf gun fight. Leah, Lily, Reed and I kinda just shot darts at Gwen the whole time. Then we shot at the ceiling and walls. It became a goal to shoot the stick-on darts in the shape of a smiley face on one of the pictures on the wall.
Sometime during the time at Gwen's, I realized I'd better call my mom. I picked up Gwen's home phone and gasped. It had no screen! Leah showed me how to turn it on. For some reason, Gwen thought it hysterically funny that I didn't know how to use her ancient phone. It actually wasn't old, I just blanked for a sec, okay?
We went grocery shopping. It was time for dinner, and people were getting grumpy from lack of food. We grabbed chicken nuggets, some lemonade ice tea (which was awesome, by the way) and tater tots. Those reminded me vaguely of some movie about some dork guy with curly hair who liked to dance...?
Anyway, we got the food and returned to Gwen's. We watched the second Back the the Future. By then, it was 9:30 at night. We decided to split, and headed for home :) Now, it's past 11:30. I'm so ready for bed, you have no idea. I've been gone for more than twelve hours. That doesn't happen often, I can tell you that.
Overall, pretty much a fantastic day. And its all thanks to God, of course, who made it happen. :) With Him, all things are possible. Even getting out of outrageous positions on playground swings. Yes, even that.
