It's Tuesday. It feel like 10:00 in the morning, but it's actually 2:00 in the afternoon. Why is that?
Well, I got out of bed at around 11:15 this morning. So I'm late. For life, I guess.
You guessed it. I went to Busch Gardens yesterday! WHAT FUN!! I'm so glad I went. It was definitely a good amount of money, and there were some moments where I felt sort of down, but other than that... it was a blast. Last time I said I wasn't going to re-live an experience with a too detailed description, it didn't really fly. But I'll try not to make it too terribly long ;).
So, I went to Busch Gardens yesterday. I woke up at 6:00 (memories of the school year... *shudders*) and got to the church at 7:37 (pretty good, I know). I rode in the car with Caitlin, Bethany, Linnea and Leah. In the first five minutes of the car ride, we missed our turn and had to turn around and about plently of times. Doug left us (three or four times, by our count) so we got kind of behind. But anyway. The ride there was almsost too tiring; we "jammed" to plenty of songs, even though Caitlin's iPod died within the first hour (the whole ride was more than three hours) and we played some mind games, which was cool. The triangle/magic box/who's dead game, the green glass doors, the magic number, and then this game with Caitlin that none of us had any clue how to work out. She told us the key at the end, and we all felt pretty stupid for not thinking outside the box. I have a headache. It isn't too bad, though. Sorry, back to the story.
Anyway, we headed for Busch Gardens on the edge of our seats. I wore my plaid hat the whole ride there. It was pretty devestating when I had to leave it behind once we got to the park. It could have melted in the heat of the car. Seriously, it must have gotten to one hundred degrees when we were there. So I was right about the sweltering heat part.
So we finally arrived at BG. We had to ride this shuttle, car thing to the roller coasters and rides after we parked our cars. On our way there, Doug sat next to this guy who we soon found out was named Justin. It became our goal to spot him in the park throughout the day. Whenever anyone saw him, we were supposed to call out, "HEY! JUSTIN!" and give him a big wave. He was the first of the strangers we conversed with that day, all thanks to Doug, of course. Another time, we went to this tent-ish thing where you could win stuffed animals and such, and we asked the guy who was helping us out, point blank, if he was a Christian. And he said, "Yes, actually, I am!" (by the way, we won a big frog there who we named Le Frog Justino, after Justin.) Another time, we were talking to a family, and we mentioned we were a youth group and such. Then Doug asked if they went to church, and the mom of the family said, nodding, "Absolutely." It was a pretty cool experience, meeting people just out of the blue like that. It was like, I wasn't just there with my specific church family, but with a part of my family I hadn't ever even met yet. But we were drawn together by Christ. Awesome.
Back to what happened next...
I'm not gonna lie. We had complications. When we got there, we found out that the tickets were six dollars more than we thought; then, we got ten dollars off anyway, which then made people think we only got four dollars off. Then, we found out that the water park section was an extra $40, so no one in our group went to the water park that day. Also, they almost didn't except my visa card, which gave me a slight scare. But everyone got in just fine; it was time to ride some coasters.
I actually didn't go on any roller coasters, however. I went on the log flume, the Pompeii ride, bumper cars, DarKastle (dark - castle), and the Roman Rapids; but no coasters. I was going to; but we ended up not having enough time. And besides, roller coasters make me sick :P. Oh yeah, I decided that all the good things in life make me sick. Chinese food, roller coasters, reading in the car... the list goes on and on.
Anyway, the log flume was pretty fun, but the line was ridiculously long. I was in a group people who went on the log flume (Caitlin, Jenna, Leah, Bethany, Doug, Joe, David), and we met another group of ours in line, so we kept high fiving them whenever we passed. It got really old really quickly, but it was nice seeing people we knew ;). I went in a log with Leah, and the whole time I was singing "The Climb" whenever we were going up and "Jesus Take the Wheel" whenever we were about to go down.
Then we went on this ride, something to do with Pompeii... anyway, all you do is go up and then down, but in the middle you go through this section with statues and such crashing all around you, and fire flaring on every side (even on the ceiling; that was cool). We went on that one twice, and got pretty wet :).
We went on a bumper car ride (it was like any other bumper car ride; getting stuck every other moment, and getting bumped around during the others) and then I think we went to DarKastle.
Coolest ride ever. Really. It's this 4-D experience, where you're riding in a cart through this castle, and you have these glasses on that make everything 3-D (you were watching scenes, like a movie, as you went along). But then it's like you're actually there; with water splurting on you, and wind blowing on you, and twisting and turning around in ways that correspond with the scenes you're watching. There was one part where you fall through a roof... I could swear we were actually falling. And then arrows and knives kept getting thrown at us. David and I both dogded them (though, I must admit, one hit me square in the forhead!). Anyway. It was a pretty incredible ride. If you ever go to Busch Gardens, don't pass up the DarKastle.
So then we went back to the parking lot and had snacks in Caitlin's car. Then we returned to the park and went on the Roman Rapids.
I went on this with Albert, Jenna, Caitlin, Lily, Bethany, and Leah. We went on it once and had to go again. So, Albert, Caitlin, Bethany, Leah and I all stayed and went on the rapids over, and over, and over again! There was no avoiding it during this ride; each of us were soaked from the very beginning. Twice, I got hit by the waterfalls (there's four in a row, I think). Luckily, the water was actually rather warm. By then it was getting dark, and we were starting to shiver in our sopping wet clothes.
The rapids was the last ride of the day. We got back to the parking lot and headed for a nearby McDonalds to grab something before we drove the three hours back to the church. On the way to Mickey Ds, both Leah and I changed completely out of our wet bathing suits into our cozy, extra outfits. I consider this a pretty big accomplishment, having to change completely in a moving car. We got to the McDonalds, ate a quick snack, and headed for home.
At first, we continued our "jamming" on the way home. It was rather fun, even though we were all dead tired; Bethany even showed a little bit of her crazy side, screaming out the words to the songs we didn't even know.
But before we knew it, the car was quiet, and we were all dozing off. I don't think I ever fell asleep for real, being as I was; cold beneath my wet towel and having to adjust my sitting position on the leather seats numerous times. Caitlin, good job on staying awake ;). I doubt I'd ever be able to accomplish such a feat...
We got to the church and Doug drove us home. The rest is history (even though I don't even know what that means...).
Now I'm ridiculously tired and feeling somewhat like a sloth. Or maybe a koala bear... those are cuter. Anyway, I wish I could sleep all day. But I know I'd get restless and have to move around eventually. So that was my day... It's now past 3:00. I wonder who, if anyone, is going to actually look at this. I like recounting my memories; maybe you'll like reading about them.
